LAND ACCESS CHANGES

A number of changes are likely in the near future that may affectBT rides and other rides conducted by non members and commercialorganisations.

Forestry and Parks and Wildlife are currently reviewing theirprocedures for allowing access across their land. Stricter controlsmay be likely for tour operators and even some recreational clubslike BT if riders are charged a fee. Forestry has issued a draft oftheir proposal. It may be that in future if BT is to organise ridesthrough forestry land - the tour leader will be required to have

  1. remote area first aid certificate
  2. a licence ($300 - refundable for non-profit organisations)
  3. a commercial vehicle licence (if a bus back-up is provided)
  4. anything else necessary.

It is now getting much harder to ride anywhere - we soughtpermission from the manager at Murrayfield on Bruny Island to crossto Church Hill and were denied. For this trip apparently a fee of $10is charged, a disclaimer must be signed, and you must give at least 3weeks notice.
